The ship and boat discoveries in the last decades in Lisbon have constituted an unprecedented challenge for the Portuguese archaeological community. The number and dimension of the recovered pieces demand the constant updating of the methods of archaeological documentation of the contexts and of the timbers individually. This paper gives an account of the strategies and methods adopted in the last 10 years in the recording of old vessels and nautical structures in Lisbon waterfront during construction works.
